Neck Lift
Many people find that their neck shows signs of aging sooner than the rest of their body. Weight loss and heredity can also impact the appearance of this body part, causing loose skin, horizontal bands, or other unsightly effects. Neck lift surgery can restore the youthful appearance of your neck, giving West Palm Beach and Palm Beach Gardens area patients a firmer and younger-looking neck.
Is a neck lift right for me?
A neck lift may be right for you if you are unsatisfied with the appearance of your neck area. Most patients seeking neck lift surgery are 35 to 70 years old, and wish to reduce visible signs of aging affecting their neck. Adults in good overall health can generally undergo this procedure, though certain medical conditions may make cosmetic surgery an unsuitable option.
How much does a neck lift cost?
The costs of this procedure vary greatly depending on the surgical methods used. Often, this technique is combined with other surgical methods, such as a face lift, further affecting the overall costs involved. Usually, West Palm Beach and Palm Beach Gardens area patients find that the surgery costs between $5,000 and $8,000.
How involved is the neck lift procedure?
Platysmaplasty surgery is generally performed with general anesthesia. It can take anywhere from one to three hours, depending on the surgical complexity. Some can be performed endoscopically (through a small tube using a camera), while others must be performed as open surgery, which requires a longer incision underneath the chin and is considered to be a more involved version of the procedure.
During this procedure, the neck muscles are tightened to remove the band lines running horizontally across the front of the neck. This technique is known medically as platysmaplasty. Excess fat may be removed via liposuction. Hanging skin is trimmed away in a process known as cervicoplasty. Each neck lift procedure is tailored to the patient's individual needs.
How long is the recovery after a neck lift?
After surgery, the neck is covered in a compression bandage for a week. Side effects such as bruising, swelling, redness, soreness, tightness, and skin numbness are common, and usually last about ten days. During the recovery period, keep your head and neck elevated, even while sleeping, and wear a button-down shirt to avoid pulling clothing over your neck. Most West Palm Beach and Palm Beach Gardens area patients are back to work in about two weeks, and find that the final results of their surgery are visible in about two to three months.
