When to Contact a Wound Care Specialist
If you have:
- A chronic non-healing wound (a duration of 30 days or more)
- An acute wound (a new wound that you cannot manage)
- A traumatic wound
- A wound that presents with drainage, odor, redness, pain, swelling
- A wound that heals and then re- opens
These are wounds that require evaluation by a wound care specialist to determine the reasons why the wound will not heal. Once the cause is identified and addressed an advanced wound care plan will be implemented to facilitate proper wound healing and closure.
